PanAmSat, Fox Expand High-Definition Satellite Deal

WILTON, CT, July 21/Satnews Daily/ ─ PanAmSat Corp. (NASDAQ: SPOT) and Fox Entertainment Group, Inc. have expanded their long-term agreement to include two additional transponders on the high-in demand C-band platform of Galaxy 13.

Fox Entertainment Group's Fox Cable Networks division will utilize the new capacity to distribute Fox Sports Net HD (FSN HD) and other future High-Definition (HD) services. Earlier this year, Fox signed a multi-year, multi-satellite, multi-transponder deal with the PanAmSat, consolidating its entire suite of U.S. programming onto PanAmSat's global fleet and a significant portion of its international traffic.

Joe Wright, president and CEO of PanAmSat said he is delighted that Fox turned to Galaxy 13 for the long-term distribution of Fox Sports Net HD and future HD offerings to over 10,000 cable headends throughout the U.S.

Specially designed to support HD transmissions, Galaxy 13 has double the power of its predecessor to deliver high-quality television across North America. Located at 127 degrees west longitude in the U.S. cable arc, Galaxy 13 is part of PanAmSat's "Power of Five" antenna program, which provides qualified cable operators with simultaneous access to five Galaxy neighborhood satellites.
