Norsat Appoints Key Executives

 

BURNABY, B.C., Canada,  June 9,  2004/Satnews/  Canadian equipment manufacturer Norsat International Inc. (TSX – NII.TO; OTC BB – NSATF.OB) announced today that Dr. Amiee Chan has been appointed Vice President of Operations and Mr. Dale Mortimer joins as Vice President of Marketing. Dr. Chan is responsible for Engineering, Production and Customers Service departments. Mr. Mortimer is responsible for Product Management, Marketing Communications and leading Corporate Strategy development.

 

Dr. Chan brings 10 years of experience in management including strategic planning, product development, technology commercialization and go-to-market planning to this position. Dr. Chan was previously with Norsat between 1998 and 2002 where she directed the Engineering Department. Prior to rejoining Norsat, she oversaw the product marketing, commercialization and launch of a product line for CREO Inc. She has extensive design and production experience with RF and microwave circuits and antennas and was instrumental in developing the first Norsat portable terminal products. Dr. Chan holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and an EMBA from Simon Fraser University.

Mortimer has 20 years of experience in technology industries including over 10 years in senior roles with telecommunications and wireless technology companies. Mr. Mortimer most recently spent three years as Vice President of Marketing at Digital Dispatch Systems, Inc. overseeing worldwide Product Management and Marketing functions. Prior to that, he held various senior positions in Product Management and Business Development over a five-year

period at Glenayre Technologies, Inc. Mr. Mortimer holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from Carleton University and a MBA from the University of British Columbia.
