Global Corp. (TSX: SGB) announced today the appointment of
Alfred C. Giammarino as Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Giammarino will
report to President and Chief Executive Officer, Jim Parm, and
will be responsible for all financial and investor relations
affairs and activities for Stratos.
A former Verizon Communications
and GTE executive, Mr. Giammarino brings to Stratos more than
27 years of finance, operations, investor relations, and
mergers and acquisitions experience gained with leading
international telecommunications companies. Most recently, Mr.
Giammarino held the position of Senior Vice President and
Chief Financial Officer, International and Information
Services, with Verizon Communications, Inc. In this role, he
had operational responsibility for domestic and international
businesses, including international affiliates.
Prior to this, Mr. Giammarino
served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Planning,
International, with GTE Corporation. During his tenure, Mr.
Giammarino participated in the successful conclusion of
acquisitions and investments totaling more than US$2 billion.
He also led a successful effort to double net income from
international organizations over three years and was involved
in significant capital fundraising for GTE affiliates.
With the appointment of Mr.
Giammarino, Paula Sturge, FCA, CMA, who had been serving as
Interim Chief Financial Officer, will resume her role as
Senior Vice President, Finance, responsible for accounting,
finance and taxation functions.
Mr. Giammarino will be based in
Stratos' corporate headquarters in Bethesda, MD.
