WorldSpace Appoints Hamza Farooqui Managing Director for South Africa

 
WASHINGTON, March  29,  2004/Satnews/--  Satellite radio operator WorldSpace Corporation appoints Hamza Farooqui as  Managing Director for WorldSpace South Africa.

The 22-yr. old Farooqui will be responsible for driving the growth of the  WorldSpace Satellite Radio in the African region focusing primarily on  South Africa. Farooqui will bring his experience from his successful business career, which began at the age of 12. Farooqui began  his career as the Chairman & CEO of Convergence Group (Pty) Ltd, owners of the successful iCricketer.com which was created as a portal for real  time cricket scores, play by play, news and exclusive content from international media and sporting team partners.

Prior to joining WorldSpace, Farooqui was the Group CEO of CII Holdings  (Pty) Ltd, a diversified group providing Muslims globally with  broadcasting, retail/merchandising and financial services product.  CII's vertical integration includes distribution of original content of  Islamic lifestyle and religious programming broadcast internationally in the English language to bricks and mortar stores and a top performing equity fund listed under the general equity sector in South  Africa.
