High Quality Video (HQV)yes, another new standard of video calls over the Internet, brought about by the collaboration of Skype and Logitech. The standard is designed to assist folk connect with friends, families, co-workers and clients without having to buy and install expensive video-conferencing equipment. High Quality Video brings VGA-quality video (640x480 pixels) at up to 30 fps an d requires a broadband connection (364 kbps), a HQV webcam, and a PC with dual-core CPU. RipCode has integrated the On2 Technologies On2 VP6 codec into the industrys first hardware accelerated 2-pass VP6 w-pass encoding appliance, which just debuted from that company. Due to this agreement, On2 VP6-based services will be able to deliver transcoding for video on demand. This will allow broadcasters, syndicators, or user generated video sites to eliminate storage of multiple file formats and to deliver files from their entire video library for any application.
