Newtec… @ IBC2012 With… (SATCOM)

July 23, 2012

[SatNews] Newtec is announcing new milestone products, technologies and innovations during IBC 2012 in…

…Amsterdam at its stand in hall 1, booth A49. These products go beyond the current DVB standards and also further extend that technology with higher efficiency, higher speed and higher service robustness, thanks to Newtec’s Clean Channel Technology™ and Carrier ID solutions. Latest world-beating transmission tests with leading satellite operators speak for themselves.

    Satellite Broadcasting
Newtec technologies allow billions of people to connect to the world, their families and each other. You can find our innovations and technologies anywhere. Whether we work for broadcasters, satellite service providers, government agencies or corporate customers, we always see innovation as a way to reduce your costs and optimise your satellite transmission efficiency.

  • New—Newtec M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator—The new Newtec M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator is the Company’s latest generation DVB-S2, DVB-DSNG and DVB-S modulator designed specifically for multimedia contribution, broadcast direct-to-home (DTH) and primary distribution to headends and towers. The platform is inherently built on an IP architecture, and is, therefore, ideally suited to support multi-service applications. The new modulator is not only designed to be fully compliant with the installed base of satellite receivers and set top boxes, but also to evolve towards tomorrow’s technologies including the new DVB-S2 standard extensions and Radio Frequency Interference counter measures (RF Carrier ID). The M6100 is built on a brand new technology platform

Satellite Modems and Multiservice Systems
The number of services transmitted over satellite is ever growing and independent of the different applications. Satellite networks have to combine streaming video, file transfers, VoIP, broadband and other types of IP traffic. They have become truly multiservice and therefore need to be highly versatile and efficient. Newtec is an independent technology partner for multiservice solutions.

  • The new Newtec MDM2200 IP Satellite Modem and the new Newtec MDM3100 IP Satellite Modem—When it comes to medium B2B VSAT or small sized B2B/B2C home use networks over both Ka- and Ku-band, there is a choice between Newtec’s two new high-speed IP satellite modems. The MDM2200 download speeds up to 16 Mbps and 3.5 Mbps in the upload alongside the lowest power consumption available on the market. The medium sized B2B MDM3100 easily handles up to 40 Mbps in the download and 5 Mbps in the upload; with a future release increasing to 10 Mbps. Automated certification procedure can be completed in seconds via the Company’s Point&Play® technology. For a true broadband experience, the IP satellite modems incorporate the most efficient technologies avail able, such as DVB-S2 Adaptive Coding Modulation (ACM) and Clean Channel Technology in the forward link, an adaptive return link with advanced 4CPM modulation and embedded acceleration, compression and encryption
  • The new Newtec MDM6000 Satellite Modem and the new Newtec HUB6000 Satellite Hub—This new high speed Point to Point and Point to Multipoint modem adds new features on top of the 6000 platform—innovative technologies such as wideband (for use on 72 Mhz transponders), new modulation and Forward Error Correction (FEC) codes up to 64 APSK, all by combining the latest Newtec technologies (Clean Channel Technology (CCT), FlexACM®, Equalink®). Depending on the application, the migration scenario and the activated features, the MDM6000 can be used in conjunction with the new Newtec HUB6000 Satellite Hub, the new Newtec MCD6000 Multicarrier Demodulator, for network optimization, the new Newtec NOP1760 Bandwidth Manager & Shaper and the new Newtec BWC0900 Bandwidth Canceller. In all cases, end-to-end efficiency over satellite can be achieved
High Speed Records
Newtec is proud to confirm that the Company has received approval for their CCT from Intelsat, which is enabling the equipment to provide more throughput and higher efficiency compared to DVB-S2. Customers can upgrade their existing equipment in the field with this new technology directly and obtain 15 percent more throughput. Tests with the leading operators were carried out by combining the latest Newtec innovations together, such as CCT, Bandwidth Cancellation and Wideband…
  • RECORD: 310 Mbps over a 36 MHz Yahsat transponder
  • RECORD: 372 Mbps over a 72 MHz Intelsat transponder
  • RECORD: 506 Mbps over a 72 MHz Eutelsat transponder
